Last Report as the CoNH Senator!

Hey Everyone! This is my last report as the Senator for the College of Nursing and Health. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me accomplish my goals for this school year. I enjoyed my time being able to represent the CoNH students for Wright State University. I feel like I have had a positive impact on the CoNH that resulted in changes being made to improve the nursing program.

I would like to thank all of my fellow Student Government members who I have had the opportunity to work with this school year. I have made become great friends with everyone and I will miss not working with you all next year.

Thanks for a great year!

Craig Honigford

The Final Report

*sigh* The final days...although I am very happy to not have to worry about office hours and reports, I am sad to have the final meetings of committees and finish duties. I look forward to seeing everyone next year in the new organizations that I am leading (Rainbow Alliance and ODK) and I wish everyone in SG 2008-2009 the best of luck in their endeavors. I hope you guys have a good time and accomplish great things. I'll probably come back to visit...SG has been a wonderful opportunity to make friends, accomplish big things, and network within the university. It has allowed me to set some very large goals personally and professionally and to achieve those goals successfully.

I feel as though I need to make some shout-outs because I know that the people who read these reports just can't get enough of them, right? HA

TJ and Paulina - I am so lucky to be able to say I was a part of your administration. From the first night, after my grueling interview for this position, when you pulled me aside to tell me that I was in...I was stoked. And I have never looked back. I am so so glad that I didn't. You guys are an amazing inspiration and I wish you nothing but the best in the future. Proudly, I call you both mentors...

HOR Mike and Kim - Mike, we survived Texas together and we're still holding strong. I've never had more laughs. Kim, I know you're excited to graduate and wherever you end up, I know you'll be an excellent leader. Thanks for letting me crash the SFC meetings. I enjoyed them.

Krystal - Oh Krystal, where do I begin? We are a crazy bunch of kids. From Homecoming to Christmas, we're shared it all. I hope that I get to spread some more hugs your way.

The Cabinet - Dan, Moody, Alison, Eric, Will, and Brian - You guys are my teammates and we have accomplished so much this year. I hope that each of you is very proud of what you've done for WSU and I hope that each of you knows that it doesn't go unnoticed by fellow teammates. I'm always rooting you on! To all of you graduating, good luck! And to those of you still here, hope I see you next year!

Last but certainly not least: The Senate - Megan U, Megan C, Cora, Cole, Ben A, Craig, Matt, Katie, Shweta, Eric C, Ben H, Danny M - Even though I was not on your side of the tables, I still noticed what amazing advocates we had for our colleges this year. Each of you accomplished great strides for the colleges this year and I will not forget what you've done. I'm proud to be behind the decisions you all made. Good luck to those returning and those graduating. A special shout-out to Megan U and Shweta, thanks for being a part of my committee, girls. I hope you had fun and you provided me with wonderful insights. I could not have pulled off Relationships Without Borders without you ladies!

I lumped them all together because I feel like I needed to address the whole team. We "worked it out" this year guys and SG 2007-2008 can't be beat!

Good Luck Graduates!

See you all next year! Senior 2009!

Final Report...

Wow… this is defiantly one of those days you don’t ever see coming, my final days of student government. I would first like to start out by thanking everyone who I have worked with this year, for one reason or another, good or bad, you have made this a learning experience for me I will take away with me for the rest of my life. You would never really expect some people to do some of the miraculous things that they do, they are truly amazing, and I applaud you for it. I was put up against many difficult situations and decisions this year, and I have enjoyed working through them with the great team I have here. I would like to personally thank:

TJ and Paulina – You guys were awesome mentors through this new experience and I will always have appreciation for you for doing everything you did for me. I know at times I may have been as open minded to things I should have, but I’m learning.

Krystal – I have SOOO much respect for you, the bottom of the barrel job that you worked was not at all pleasurable most of the time, but you honestly were one of the most influential people with in student government to me, I know we may not have had a great start to out year, but I really have come to respect and appreciate all your experience and wisdom you may have, even though it usually only comes out during a back massage, but all the same thank you so much!

Emily Yantis – You are one of the strongest people I know, and for such I greatly respect you, you have done some amazing things this year in your position and you are truly a great role model as a student leader. I know you are someone that will continue to do great things (p.s. don’t make me into a liar… J).

Alison Scott – I honestly don’t even know where to start with you… you are one of my favorite people in the office, you always seem to be able to make me smile, and make our office hours go bye so fast! As well I have a greater appreciation for you for a reason no-one else in student government can relate to, you are also a CA, and you know what a challenge that can be sometimes, and I have greatly enjoyed going through the SG/CA experience with you… you truly are a great friend.

Ben Ausdenmoore, Megan Uhrig, Katie Bullinger, and Megan Cronenwett- You are honestly the four hardest workers I have seen in this office, you always have beneficial news to tell of things you have done for your constituents, and all have amazing levels of professionalism, class, and intelligence, which have made working with you such a pleasure. Congratulations to the ones who will be carrying on in student government and I wish you the best of luck with the burden and responsibility you will soon be putting on your shoulders. Megan C, I truly wish to call you out on some things, first THANK YOU so much.. I don’t even know where to start with how you have influenced my life since coming to SG, and how I would have survived it someday without you, you are truly one of the most amazing people I have ever met, and I know you will be successful in all your future ventures, well because you have been so far when things have not been unfairly stacked against you.

Thank you everyone for this great year, it will be something I will remember for the rest of my life. I will always cherish the connections and friendships the position has granted me to obtain.
To my constituents, I have tried my best this year to all I could for you, at some times it was easier than others, but I appreciate the chance that you gave me to represent you and speak on your behalf.

Thanks again to everyone, for any questions or comments please feel free to e-mail me at Hall.201@wright.edu.

Benjiman Hall
3rd Pine Community Advisor
University College Senator, Student Government, Wright State University
University College Student Advisor Board President,
If you immediately know the candlelight is fire,
Then the meal was cooked a long time ago......

Hello Everyone,

We have finally made it to the end of another great year! I don't know about you all, but I am really happy that this quarter is almost over and that summer is coming soon. I don't know why I am all excited, because I am still going to be here on campus taking classes this summer, but I am sure it will be fun. I really want to say thanks to all of you students for a great year! I also want to say thank you to TJ for making doing a great job this year at President, and for being a great person to work with. I hope you all have a great summer and a great year next year. If you happen to need help with anything, or if you happen to be around this summer, just shoot me an email, and let me know what I can do to help.

Thanks for everything,
Matthew

Last Report

So this is my final report as the President of Student Government. I would like to begin by thanking everyone here at the University for all of the help they have given me and my team during this year. We have accomplished a lot of our goals and hopefully made a very positive impact on this campus this year. I wasn’t sure what format to do this report, so I figured I would focus on each person and some of their accomplishments individually.

Paulina Zoltowski – She has worked extremely hard to motivate the senators and keep them focused on their constituents in their respective colleges. She instituted a couple of new policies and has shown herself to be a strong, yet understanding, leader and coach.

Krystal Karshner – I can’t say enough about the work she has done this year. While often overlooked and sometimes misunderstood, her position is not one that people are typically fond of. But, she did it well, kept everyone on task, and was a major confidante to me whenever I needed her (including 12 am J).

Mike Wilkerson – Well, I am taking over for you! You have been a passionate representative for student organizations. By helping to plan so many events throughout the year, the House of Representatives did accomplish many great things, and you were able to get quite a few new ideas circulating for the future.

Kimberly Brown – Kim has been a constant pleasure for the last two years in Student Government. She understands the students and their concerns and always looks at things from another perspective, which keeps everyone around her on their toes. She also focused on a “re-branding” concept for the House of Representatives by developing a new logo and a marketing strategy.

Dan Fague – He has to be one of the most passionate people I have ever met. Dan constantly and consistently has shown a positive perspective on situations and accomplished many of his own personal goals for the year, including registering over 400 people to vote.

Emily Yantis – In a lot of ways, Emily spent part of the year being my apprentice (at least I felt that way). I think that Emily has so much potential for leadership that she will one day be bigger than this institution can even imagine. Even though I know that her career is not in politics or public service, I hope that one day she does consider it because she is the type of role model we can all look up to.

Alison Scott – What can I say? When I interviewed you last year, we asked you if you minded being the SG b@$%h. You told us that you didn’t mind, but I am not completely sure you understood that we weren’t joking. J I hope that you have enjoyed your job this year as much as you could because I know that having that girl who never stops smiling in the office has made this year a brighter one for all of us!

Sean Graves – I know that we didn’t get to work together a whole lot this year, but I think if we had, we could have accomplished a lot together. Thanks for helping us out in a bind and being a positive outlet for support during spring quarter!

Moody Kassem – A year ago we sat down for an interview that I assumed I would be underwhelmed with, and now I stand before you different for having met you. Moody has arguably been the most productive member of Student Government. He has accomplished every task I have ever asked of him, and without compromise. He is passionate about his faith and religion and is very mature for his age in a lot of respects and it will definitely suit him well in medical school.

Eric Thomas – Eric is a public relations guru. He loves to be in the limelight at an event, and won’t stop until he has personally met everyone in the room. He has definitely worked tirelessly at events to promote the Student Government name and will always be remembered for performing at “Super Bowls”.

Will Taylor – The quiet one. Will has accomplished so much this year, but never takes credit for any of it. If you had told me last year that Will Taylor would be voted Member of the Year, I would have laughed at you. He has impressed me more than he can ever know, and I am so proud to have been able to work with him this year. Thanks again Will for your amazing leadership and commitment to quality.

Ben Ausdenmoore – What more can you say, it’s Ben! If anyone doesn’t already know Ben, get to know this kid. I am convinced that he is the hardest worker I have ever met. He accomplished 3 years worth of work in his first year, and has continued that progress into this year. He is returning next year as the Chief Justice, and I am sure that he will re-define that position for years to come.

Cora Phipps – Cora is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She is always smiling, upbeat and helps to contribute a positive aura in the office at all times. She is moving away to Virginia in a few weeks, but just remember that we will always remember you here in Ohio and don’t forget to visit.

Megan Uhrig – Megan is one of the most interesting people I have ever met. She is very young, yet so intelligent, passionate, understanding, and uncompromising all rolled up into one. She is also returning next year as the Chief of Staff and I know that she will succeed because she definitely has the skills to help motivate, teach, train and develop leaders.

Craig Honigford – Craig is nothing like I ever thought when I first met him. He is a very “stand up guy” with a huge heart and drive. He has dealt with probably the worst “college” issues as a senator this year, and has worked to solve each problem quickly and effectively.

Cole Budinsky – I have known Cole for a few years now. When I first met him, I never thought we would end up being such good friends. He has established a very successful Deans Student Advisory Board in the College of Science and Math. He also worked to help update the curriculum for the EXB major in the college. He is also returning next year as the Assistant Speaker of the House and I am sure he will do a great job in his new role.

Matt Janning – While I haven’t known Matt for very long, I do know a few things about him. First, he is very passionate about worthy causes (i.e. toppings on subs). This helps translate very well into the Raj Soin College of Business and all the work he has done there. Next year he will be the President of the Deans Student Advisory Board and we all wish him the best of luck in the future.

Megan Cronenwett – Year two down in the books. Megan has worked very hard this year for diversity issues, including helping to plan the Annual Quest for Community conference. She has also begun the groundwork on the formation of a Deans Student Advisory Board in the School of Graduate Studies.

Katie Bullinger – Katie has been one of my favorite people to work with. She has been an outlet for so much information for my personal future and I can’t begin to thank her for that. She has also been one of the most productive senators this year. Instead of focusing solely on the BSOM, which she represents very well, she has also remained committed to the University as a whole, and has stayed very connected the undergraduate population this way. I hope for nothing but the best for her in the future and I am sure she will succeed at her next “venture”.

Shweta Sharma – I have not had the opportunity to work closely this year with Shweta. However, I have heard nothing but positive things from everyone in SG regarding her work and her commitment to excellence. Her peers think very highly of her and that is so important for a senator to connect with their constituents.

Ben Hall – Ben is one of the upcoming leaders with the most potential. He has done more with his college this year than anyone has ever done for University College in the last 4 years. Remember his name, because in a few years I know that we will have accomplished a lot of things on this campus.

Dan Mosher – Can anyone say Ping Pong Tournament. I heard about this thing for weeks and weeks and weeks and weeks. I questioned how it would turn out in my mind every time I heard about it. Congratulations on a very successful event and thanks for keeping your head up with such a difficult position on Student Government.

Eric Credit – He probably had the most to learn coming in halfway through the first quarter and having never held any substantial leadership positions prior. Based on our conversations now, I think that you will begin to show amazing leadership in the Greek community and especially in your fraternity. Good Luck!

Winding Down

So...officially three weeks left and I am getting busy with school. Diversity Film Festival did not happen because of confusion with rooms and dates. Unfortunately, the time just got away from me. Hopefully, it will return next year. I apologize for those who were anxiously awaiting the week. Go see the films anyways...they're in WSU library!

Now, after Speak Out (which went exceptionally well...applause to Megan Uhrig for coordination and SG for pulling it off), I will be at anyone's disposal for help in SG. I am meeting with Joshua Hawes, the upcoming Diversity Affairs to transition and transitioning into my upcoming roles.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank TJ and all the members of Student Government for making this year so memorable. I obviously have something to say to each and every one of you and I will say it eventually (just not here). I just hope that you all know how special you are to me and how much I enjoyed SG 2007-2008. I am very grateful to Student Activities and the award I was given on Thursday. I hope to continue the work I am doing and finish it off next year. I hope that Joshua serves the student body well...I have all the confidence in the world that he will!

If you need anything, please feel free to contact me. I'll be around here somewhere! :-)

Tj and I will be meeting with Sabrina and Jac tomorrow to prepare for Board of Trustee meeting this Friday at 1 and to go over any last questions they may have before taking office.

The Sustainability meeting took place today at 4 and last Friday which I was unable to attend so I will share new findings in a new report.

To my knowledge, all the senators have finished their transition packets and have met with the new senators to transition for next year.

This week I will be working on putting together a summary of the SG year for the Board of Trustee.
