E-Board Reports

President Joel Parker

OSGA was extremely successful and created a networking bridge between all public institutions in Ohio. Along with facilitating discussion and collaboration, I finished my term as Vice-Chair for Internal Affairs on the statewide board, however, Nick Warrington our very own Associate Justice was elected to Vice-Chair for Financial Affairs.  Student Government had their second Relay for Life team in history. We hosted a Relay for Life fundraiser on Thursday over at The Province which was extremely successful. Other than those I have been chairing the SOBC committee in which we are working to make sure that more funds are allocated to new or smaller organizations.

Vice-President Dan Thomas

Not only did I participate in the OSGA conference but I have been working complete the invitations for COSM's Connect event and complete the data collection for the Hangar Project.  I have also been conducting one-on-ones with the senate.

Chief of Staff Joe Bozeman III

I have research obligations that I must attend to tonight. I will be presenting my research in Columbus today at the University Clean Energy Alliance of Ohio conference. The OSGA conference went well and the Collective Purchasing resolution regarding the Inter-University Council of Ohio's Student Health Insurance Task Force initiative passed with no opposition. The resolution called for the formation of an internal OSGA committee to be created and requested that the committee's recommendations and suggestions be honored by the IUC's Student Health Insurance Task Force. The College Democrats of Ohio and the Ohio College Republican Federation still have positive energy in hopes to pass their versions of the IUC Collective Purchasing of Student Health Insurance resolution by the end of June. I will be back soon to talk about this issue and more.

Chief Justice Marissa Morton

Working on elections, candidate meetings are done.  As for elections, I have both debates set. April 26th from 7-9 pm will be the Vice-Presidential debate at the Province. The Presidential debate will be May 3rd, from 4:30-6:30-pm in the Atrium. Buttons for campaigns will be done in the morning. I've been in contact with the Guardian over the last two weeks, making sure they can get their article sent out tomorrow reviewing the candidates for all positions. The President and Vice President candidates will be attending a radio show on April 25th from 7-9 on WWSU.

Associate Justice Nick Warrington

Have been helping Marissa with election stuff. Did health care committee meeting with republics, mentioned it to them on the conference call last night about getting involved for the cause

Internal Affairs Tory Detty

I have been working on making sure the office is running effectively.  I have been watching everyone’s hours in the office.  Make sure you submit your hours by 9 p.m. on Sundays.  For those of you that did not complete your hours make sure you make up the hours the following week.  Also clock out before coming to meetings and fix your punches if you forget to clock out.  Participated in OSGA, Relay for Life, and the fundraiser for Relay at the Province.

Speaker of the House Catherine Jones

Megan and I have been working on getting the tunnel paintings finalized. I created a tunnel painting form online so that people could register completely paperless.
I took pictures today of the tunnels and Megan used those photos to create a powerpoint to show to the student orgs on what to do and what not to do when it comes to tunnel paintings.  We have created a new incentive program to reward the orgs for coming in the spring to the meetings. We are putting together gift basket/items for a raffle every meeting.

Assistant Speaker Megan Uhrig

Director of Disability Affairs Nathan Turner:

At end of winter quarter there were meetings with Jeff and their administrator and Dr. Hopkins to help students with disabilities.  Spoke with him about diversity partnerships, wants to have the framework for next year for Tuesday or Thursday for him to be involved for next year.  DSAB committee and wants the framework to support it.

Public Relations Elizabeth Ash:

Signs created are for the Office of Sustainability, Campus Crusade for Christ, and OSGA.  Also, I have been attending Homecoming Committee meetings. We have been planning homecoming, which will happen in the fall, early this year. I have already discussed with the group that Student Government is interested in recreating Game Night from last year. It will include video game tournaments, casual games, sponsored games from other organizations, and the very successful basketball tournament from last year.
Also, new things have been discussed such as the cooperation between different organizations during each event.

Director of Student Affairs Moody Kassem:

Web Communications Josh Cope:

Have added everyone into the email addresses and e-punch.  I have also been helping Marissa with the election central part of the website for student government elections 2010-2011.  Let me know if you need anything.

Assistant Web Communications Norm Holcomb:

Working on election central with Josh.  Also have took OSGA pictures at the conference.

Director of International Affairs Enam:

t. A survey went out to students, and the news about Book-bazaar went out to students. Participated in IFA, big success. Will be working with Megan Cronenwett in the future about passing a resolution on student health insurance.

Senate Reports:

Education and Human Services Caley O’Connor:

Our last candidate is visiting next week, and the student forum will be held on Monday from 4-4:50 in 410 Allyn Hall. A decision on our new Dean will be made soon thereafter.  Next week is our DSAC meeting, and we will start the process of becoming a registered student organization. We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our team for the next school year.

Liberal Arts Jamie Plamondon:

I had the opportunity to lead a forum on the topic of Academic Advising where OSU, Miami and Akron all discussed issues and concerns they were having with advising. "Have Your Voices Heard" is coming up and will be a great opportunity for students to discuss advising problems with department chairs and other faculty members. We held our Meet and Greet Tuesday to help spread the word about the "Have Your Voices Heard" event coming up May 6.

Science and Math Senator Jillian Fraser-

This week and last week I have been diving into delegating tasks to people for CoSM CONNECT as well as doing my best to get invitations/flyers out to students. I have entertainment and food confirmed, as well as an agenda for the evening. I have also been working on a fundraiser for the American Red Cross Club; it’s the “tacky tree” fundraiser where a tree gets placed on the desks of various faculty and staff and they have to pay to have it removed. All proceeds are going to the Dayton Area Chapter of the ARC.

Business College Jaleh

Last week i was in New Orleans for the American Marketing Association national collegiate convention with the Marketing club. I am working on finding a way to get a board of students who will help advise business organizations. Like a Deans Student Advisory board and the SEC mixed. This will help when organizations need to be collaborated with.  Additionally, I will be meeting with the dean to talk about how to get additional options for club postings soon.  Senate one-on-one on Thursday with Dan.

Medicine School Adam:

Don't forget SOARnet will be speaking this Thursday about family medicine and pediatrics research opportunities.  The school will also be having a talent show for the students.  St. Vincent a few weeks ago to help kids and we now have within that student org student to student once a month or twice a month.

Residential Senator Daniel Rhodes:
There is constantly more and more chatter about recycling in the residence halls and apartments. Currently, there are minimal places to recycle in the residence areas. I will be working with Office of Residence Services, AM Management, and hopefully some on-campus interest groups to help push this issue and get some kind of system set up for students to recycle. I will also be working towards getting new sand in the volleyball court in the Woods Residence area. I have received numerous complaints about this issue, and I will try my best to resolve it as soon as possible.

Commuter Senator Sara Greene:

Relay took place this past Friday, thanks to everyone from Student Government who participated!  This past Monday I attended the Commuter Student Association E-board meeting, we discussed many great philanthropic ideas as well as the success of the Spring Housing Fair, and how to improve and grow during the next academic year! I am looking forward to everything the rest of Spring Quarter holds!

University College Senator Sara Kassem:

This weekend I attended OSGA ( Ohio Student Government Association) and i thought it was wonderfully put together, especially with the time that was given to put together, so props E-Board! I discussed several different ideas during my break out session regarding Semester transition with the other colleges that attended. Long story short, OSU and OU Are pretty much on the same route that we are on. They are still trying to figure out their budgets, constitution changes, and credit transfers.

Graduate Studies Senator Megan C:

Attended relay for life, met with George last week to see what he had been working on.  Had one on one with Dan Thomas this past week.  Also the first DSAB meeting for graduate studies will be coming up soon.
