Student Government Minutes 9/14/10


*Meeting was called to order at 7:01pm
*Members in Attendance: Daniel Thomas, Josh Anderson, Kelli Paul, Paul Reed, Ashley Gerten, Marissa Morton, Nathan Turner, Rayne Bozeman, Tiffany Mohr, Nick Warrington, Adam Verdecchia, Josh Cope, Jon Maze, Rod Harris, Adam Deardorff, Sean Curtis, Costa Alimonos, Jamie Palmondon, Steve Young, Lynsey Shepard, Brandy Zapata, Danny Conaway.

*Executive Reports:
President Daniel Thomas- Game night is in 2 weeks, Tue. Sept 28 @8pm. There will be no SG meeting that night since everyone will be at the game night. Next week’s meeting is going to be at the bridge café to get the Campus Voice group together. Look for emails with more info. If we have new business these next 2 weeks let the e-board know. Keep up the good work!
Vice President Josh Anderson- I meet with all the Senators and we have meeting times planned every week. I also met with Amber from the Women’s Center. They are putting together a project for women running for leadership positions. I also plan on attending a meeting to see if SG can help with Multicultural Night.
Chief of Staff Kelli Paul-Thank you everyone who sent in your progress reports!! I will email an example of a progress report so everyone knows how to do one. I worked on a development plan for Campus Voice to get them running smoothly. Also new office keys are coming soon! Finally I am working on an office make over!
Chief Justice Paul Reed- Right now I am working on fall elections and I am getting great feedback about people who are interested. Due to homecoming or elections will be moved back to Oct 7/8th. Election pack dates will also be moved back.  Everyone please talk to your residents or colleges about open positions. Finally, we have purchased them domain name for getrowdywsu.com.
Director of Internal Affairs Ashley Gerten- I have just been making agendas, typing minutes from the meeting, working with e-punch and making sure everyone does their hours. I also attended the Newman Catholic Student Association’s ice-cream social which went very well. Tiffany and I had our first homecoming committee meeting and I am continuing on updating the budget. Also, if you are clocked into the office and plan to leave for a meeting or whatever please specify on e-punch where you are. There is a space when you modify to change whether you are in office or out.

*Cabinet Reports:
Speaker of the House Marissa Morton- I had my one or two with Dan since Joel came into our meeting. We talked about the SG phone getting weighted down with HOR stuff.  I had a meeting with Vicki Davidson and she wants to move forward with the hammocks but Physical Plant has a few concerns with the hammocks being on the grass due t mowing. The 3 hammocks would go by the quad, the student union, and library. I am also working on HOR and its revamp.  A new project I’m trying to do is to help boost athletics with an Org competition. Basically the more org members you have at a game the higher chance you will win some kind of prize. Finally, I am working on the printing requests and Gold star status.
Assistant Speaker of the House Joel Parker: N/A
Director of Academic Affairs Jon Maze- I have been busy with the Semester banner aids. I am also setting up my committee meetings on Mondays at 6PM. Finally, I am helping out with the Optimism Club which works with needy children. If you know anyone interested in this sort of group let me know.
Director of Disability Affairs Nathan Turner- I had a meeting with the Office of Disability Services on getting freshmen more involved and helping devise way to help students become more active with the political process. I am also getting my advisory committee application finished.
Director of Diversity Affairs Rod Harris- As you all know I am working with my advisory council. Meeting are on Monday’s. I also know a lot of people interest in associate positions and helping out SG.
Director of International Affairs Rayne Bozeman- I helped out at fall fest on Friday, attended the UCIE cookout where we played human bingo. I also attended the club football game with some other SG members.  Finally, I followed up with students that are interested in my committee and help Tiffany and Ashley talk to a UVC class.
Director of Public Relations Tiffany Mohr- Like Rayne said we went to a UVC class to speech to students about campus voice and SG. I helped out at fall fest on Friday. I’ve been working on homecoming game night a lot.  Ashley and I met to talk about food and we decided instead of pizza we will do a desert bar. Finally I went to best buy with Dan to get prizes.    
Director of Student Affairs Nick Warrington- SG polo’s will be in tomorrow! They will be in your mailboxes. If you need a different size let me know. So far we have 30 surveys completed and only 2 people do not like the idea of having TV’s in the union.  Everyone will receive 15-30 surveys to get feedback from classmates. Please take a map of the student union with you.
Associate Director of Student Affairs Adam Verdecchia- My focus has been on the committee. If you are anyone you know is interested please let me know. I have also been helping nick with surveys. I am on duty tonight so I will be talking to the resident about the TV’s.
Director of Web Communications Josh Cope- Like Paul said I bought the domain name for getrowdywsu.com. I also ordered the new printer which will copy and scan! I worked a little on campus voice t-shirts and I am working with CATS to make our login in system easier.
*Senate Reports:
Boonshoft School of Medicine Senator Adam Deardorff-  I have been doing a lot of work with the St. Vincent DePaul Group, running a tutoring program, trying to organize a mentoring program with the school of medicine, and I was just notified that  I will be attending a conference in DC.  
College of Education and Human Services Sean Curtis- I was at Fall Fest but I was around doing fraternity business. Last week I went around and talked to students during welcome week that were in the College of Education and Human Services. I am also meeting with Dr. Harris to discuss the Deans Student Advisory Board.  
College of Engineering and Computer Science Costa Alimonos- I had a meet and greet with constituents, attended the club fair and was the MC, I adopted the Pre Medical Society, and finally I am hoping to have some games at the homecoming game night.  
College of Liberal Arts Jamie Plamondon- I was at Fall Fest and I had fun! I had a meeting with the Deans Student Advisory Board to plan the social where all the College of Liberal Arts orgs can come out. I’m hoping to talk with the guardian about events going on in my college to advertise.
College of Nursing and Health Anna Potters- N/A
College of Science of Math Steve Young- My welcome event is still in the works. I am hoping to get more students involved  with Costa’s college and possible Adam’s college to join in the welcome event. I am going to talk to some UVC classes about getting involved. I sent out emails to all the presidents of the orgs to see if they will come out to the event.  I also have a Deans Circle Meeting  next week to discuss homecoming ideas and helping out.  I am also meeting with the Dean to talk about free printing like the College of Engineering and Computer Science currently has. Finally I was at Fall Fest to promote my Welcome Week.
Raj Soin College of Business Lynsey Shepard- I have been working on a college of business newsletter. I just found that the templates have been made for newsletters in the past so it will be easy to set up. Over the next two weeks I’m going to meet with business orgs to see what events they are planning  so I can put them in the newsletter. I am also going to adopt all the business orgs that are not in good standing.

School of Professional Psychology Che Hurt- N/A
University College-N/A
Residential Senator Brandy Zapata-   I was at Fall Fest bouncing around 3 different tables. I am still working on formspring so residents can post anonymous concerns. It is already up and running and a few students have used it! Had a meeting with Dan B about goals and ideas and I also set up a follow up meeting with him. Finally, I had my first residential compliant!!!  There are no bike racks by the bridge café but that has been fixed! I Hope all my complaints can be fixed that easily and in one day.
Commuter Senator Danny Conaway- I had my one on one meeting with Josh and we talked about Campus Voice and doing the surveys. I sat at our fall fest table and ive been catching up on Sg stuff with Paul.

    a.) George Heddleston- Gave a presentation on the www. Wright.edu website future changes.
    b.) Jon Montavon was confirmed as the Associate Director on Web Communications. Steve Young moved to vote by acclimation and Costa second. Welcome to SG!
    c.) Homecoming King and Queen nominations-  SG representatives are King: Josh Anderson and Queen: Brandy Zapata!

-If you do not log in your hours by Sunday at 9PM your hours that were not completed will be added onto the next week.
-SFC is this thurs @3-5PM let Joel know if you are interested in sitting on these meetings.
