4.) Executive Reports:
President, Daniel Thomas‐ I have been attending the Nutter Center interviews and
hopefully by the middle of November the new director will be picked. I was impressed with
cabinet reports and all the work you guys are doing! Kelli and I are working on an outside
performance review with the student orgs to see how SG is doing as a whole. I also want to
see what kind of job they think I am doing as president.
Vice President, Josh Anderson‐ The Campus Voice shirts are going to be around $6.70 per
shirt from T‐Creations, which isn’t bad for what we want on them. We are going to order
around 60‐65 shirts maybe less. Sean Curtis and I meet with Dr. Pringle about getting
printing in the Nutter Center for the students that have class there. We will be creating a
survey to see what students think about where it should be put. I helped with Assistant Web
Communication interviews and I ordered nameplates a few weeks ago and according to
printing services they sent them to our office but I cannot find them. If anyone sees them or
knows where they are please let me know.
Chief of Staff, Kelli Paul‐ I have been helping out with interviews for the past few weeks for
all the associate and senator positions. Jon Maze is coming to my UVC class to talk about the
semester transition and how they can prepare for it. I have been looking over everyone’s
progress and bi‐weekly reports so thank you to those who turned them in. I have also been
helping Christian with things in the office. Finally I meet with my Health Care Committee.
Chief Justice, Paul Reed‐ I have been meeting with the student orgs about getrowdy.com. I
am meeting with RCA next week to answer some concerns they have about the project. I
am also creating a constitution committee to make changes and corrections when needed. I
would like to have a meeting before the quarter ends so if you are interested please let me
know.
Director of Internal Affairs, Ashley Gerten‐ I have been working on my normal agendas and
minutes. I went to the parking appeals committee meeting with Brandy, the semester
transition brainstorming meeting, and I am going to the RCA General Assemble meeting for
Brandy on Thursday. I am also working on a progress points system for cleaning the office. I
am going to set 1 or 2 days during winter to have a SG office clean up. If you want to attend
then you will get a few points. Finally, I made and gave Christian his SG binder.
5.) Committee Reports‐ N/A
6.) Semester Transition Report, Jon Maze‐ Like Ashley said we had a brainstorming meeting on
how to get the word out for semester transition. We had about 100 or more ideas on where to
put the logo and remind students. One of the big ideas we had was putting the semester
transition log on the parking passes.
7.) GetRowdyWSU.com‐ N/A
8.) Cabinet Reports:
Speaker of the House, Marissa Morton‐ I am meeting with Vicki about event reviews
and updating a few things. I am also updating the Gold Star program to get more
student orgs to the athletic games. The highest percent of org members that attend a
game will get some kind of prize. Finally I am working on getting the HOR website more
attention.
Assistant Speaker of the House, Joel Parker‐ Over the last two weeks we have made
substantial progress on GetRowdy. I met with Rick Danals, Director, Student Activities
and cleared up some of his hesitations and we have received support from the Office of
Student Activities. Brandy and I presented a proposal to RCA for $2,000 and they will be
voting this week. I also have contacted SquareCrop to clear up some of the concerns
that the Site Operations Team has had. I also have communicated with Corey Greist and
Bob Grant about the development of the Student Organization competition that is going
to be announced at the House of Reps meeting on November 10. Finally, the Wright
State Master Plan is near completion and the University is having a few final open
forums. I would encourage all of you who are available to come out and voice your
opinion on the future of Wright State, including where to put the PARKING GARAGES.
The open forums will be on Nov. 2, 10 a.m., Rathskeller, Nov. 2, 2 p.m., Rathskeller, Nov.
3, 6 p.m., Wright State University Nutter Center Berry Room, Have a great Halloween
and a wonderful week.
Director of Academics, Jonathon Maze‐ I am working with Brandy to pass out forms to
residents about semester transition. I am also working with Ashley on a general
brochure on what students needs to prepare for before the semester transition
happens. Finally, I have a committee meeting this week.
Director of Disability Affairs, Nathan Turner‐ I am assessing the brail needs on campus
and how they can be improved, especially when it comes to vending machines, etc. Also
I am working with Brittany B. on an organization for students with disabilities. I am
sitting on a forum to make batteries for wheelchairs that can be multipurpose.
Director of Diversity Affairs, Rod Harris‐ Was unable to attend the meeting but he sent
his report through email: SG family sorry I'm not able to attend tonight's meeting but I
had a family emergency to attend to. In the past week since our last meeting I've met
one on one with Dan to discuss some of my goals for the rest of the quarter and we got
a lot of things accomplished. Next week, Dan, Josh & myself will meet with Rick Danals
to discuss the implementation of our GLBTQA Resource Center that we said we wanted
to create in our SG platform. Also, I'm working on scheduling our organizational "Safe
Space" training before the end of the quarter. If possible, I'm trying to get it scheduled
for a weekend date so we don't have to worry about missing classes since Finals week is
approaching. As soon as I get the date confirmed I'll send the date out through e‐mail so
we can all plan accordingly. End of Report.
Director of International Affairs, Rayne Bozeman‐ I have been attending general
education meetings, Multicultural Halloween planning meetings, from 6‐8pm on
Wednesday there is decorating for Multicultural Halloween. If you signed up to help
please come. The ICE is planning their own Multicultural Halloween in the community
center on Friday at 3pm.
Director of Public Relations, Tiffany Schweickart‐ I read over all your reports today and
I am highlighting a member of the week. This will be updated on Twitter, Facebook, and
the SG bulletin board. I am meeting with student orgs to see how much they go to the
SG webpage and how it can be better help to students.
Director of Student Affairs, Nick Warrington‐ I have been doing a lot of research on my
board of trustees and getting those meetings started. As for the T.V.’s I am meeting
with Art Neff and others to talk about the results of the surveys and seeing prizes of TVs
and budget. I am contacting the Big 6 to share what I’ve been doing to get their input.
Finally, new SG members, if you have not gotten your polo’s please come see me.
Director of Web Communications, Josh Cope‐ the OMG games went really well.
Halloween Hoops is coming up if anyone can help with passing out shirts let me know.
New members are set up with passwords and logins. If you have any issues please let
me know. I have been informing Matt on things we do in the office, hopefully he will be
confirmed tonight.
9.) Senate Reports:
Boonshoft School of Medicine, Adam Deardorff‐Was not able to attend the meeting so he
sent his report through email: I hope you all are doing well. I apologize for my absence this
evening. Tonight is the BSOM Central research Forum, and I am helping to clean up after
the event. This past week has been a busy one. I presented data on Team Based Learning,
which I collected from my classmates, to the BSOM Associate Dean for Academic Affairs as
well as several other faculty members. The data has started some very meaningful
conversation among faculty regarding the process of Team Based Learning in the School of
Medicine. Additionally, on Saturday the WSU St. Vincent de Paul group hosted its annual
Halloween Party. It was a great success and I think the kids will have lasting memories of
what is unfortunately a rare opportunity for fun and frivolity. Special thanks to Costa who
was an enormous help during the event. As I said, today is the BSOM Central Research
Forum, and coming up on Thursday, I am presenting at the Greene County Council on Aging
Annual Keys to Successful Living Symposium. Thanks, and have a great night!
College of Education and Human Services, Sean Curtis‐ The meeting I had with Josh
about the Nutter Center and printing went well. I am still working on the college of
education and human services website and its reevaluation. I am helping the Greek
Council with hazing and their steps to inform and communicate to their constituents. I
also have a meeting with Dan B. about organizational housing on Friday.
College of engineering and Computer Science, Costa Alimonos‐I completed one of my
goals this week of getting a stapler and hole punch into the study space! I am still
working on getting white boards for theses rooms. I am also working on seeing if I can
get a parking spot reserved for me by the engineering building. The St. Vincent DePaul
Halloween Party went really well, we had a lot of fun and finally I attended the House of
Reps meeting.
College of Liberal Arts, Jamie Plamondon‐I had a few nomination forms come in for my
Deans Student Advisory Board and I had interviews for a few positions that will be filled
soon. I am working on the DSAB constitution concerning elections since there isn’t really
a guide for that process. Finally the pot luck turned into a game night because we were
told we could not hold a potluck, but the DSAB still wants to have a potluck so this
project might get pushed back to winter.
College of Nursing and Health, Anna Potters‐I meet with my dean to talk about goals
and things that need to be addressed. I am also working on an anonymous way to let
faculty know that students are cheating. This is an issue in my college and this way
students can post anonymous tips that people are being dishonest. Finally I am helping
the nursing council get on their feet and I am helping my adopt an org with HOR and
planning events.
College of Science and Math, Steve Young‐ Joyce H, the assistant dean and I are trying
to better integrate students and faculty in my college. We are planning on bringing
beagls and coffee to all the departments and maybe having the organizations in the
college of science and math help with this project.
Raj Soin College of Business, Lynsey Shepard‐ We had our DSAB meeting and I
presented to them the newsletter and what is all included in it. I am hoping to get this
published the second week of winter quarter. I also got an email back about the tax
program I am working on with Marissa but I didn’t get good feedback from faculty so I
am going to meet with Marissa to see where we can go with this.
School of Graduate Studies, Galen Crawford‐ I am working on getting more exposure to
the graduate studies program around campus. And I have been meeting with my Dean
to talk about goals and learn more about the issues we have in our college.
School of Professional Psychology, Che Hurt‐N/A
University College, Robert Matthews‐Thank you to everyone for helping me transition
into this position! I am hoping to bring the freshmen together for an event to just have
fun and maybe talk about the semester transition, which Jon Maze and I are working on.
Residential Senator, Brandy Zapata‐ I had the dinning services meeting and we mainly
talked about making the dining halls more accessible for people with disabilities. For
example we are trying to lower the counters that drinks, condiments, and utensils are
on. I also want to say thank you to Paul for informing me about the forum on the SG
webpage. A student had a complaint about living on campus and it went unanswered
for a month. So if you see anything on the forum please inform those that the question
is directed at. I created flyers for formspring and I gave them to the community councils
to put up around their residential areas. Finally I am working on getting visitor parking
around the residential halls so if anyone has any suggestions on where they should go
please let me know!
Commuter Senator, Christian Richardson‐ I have just been getting use to the office. I
had trouble with my accounts and passwords but Josh Cope helped me get those rolling.
I am working on getting a table in the Student Union to get feedback from commuters.
